[ It's probably a crapshoot, but he's literally the only person she can ask probably, since Derek's in a bizarre coma and Lydia, well. Doesn't remember anything. ]
have you seen isaac? its not like him to just vanish
[stiles almost types: this place clearly hates me, he'll show up eventually. but if she was worried enough to ask him, she probably wouldn't appreciate it.]
[Wrapped in shining paper with iridescent ribbons, the package is both unassuming and suspiciously neat considering the wear and tear creeping in around the edges of Verdance Bluffs. Folded inside a small gold envelope is a type written note:]
DOES GOD LISTEN WHEN WE PRAY? OR WHEN WE SPEAK DOES HE TURN AWAY?
[Inside, Stiles will find a small stuffed wolf. Cute button eyes, a bushy tail, a velveteen pink tongue poked out. Only looking closer, the hair woven in isn't merely false fur... it's all too real. And it isn't woven into fabric, but rather flayed skin of a real wolf.
Is the brindle of the fur familiar? Perhaps. Just perhaps.]
[ Okay, so, maybe this was a tad presumptuous?? But it felt right, you know, in a weird kinda way. She'd spent all morning in the kitchen, a recipe she'd managed to dig up from the library in hand, and after the disastrous first attempt (where they had turned out more like rocks than actual cupcakes), Allison now held 12 chocolate frosted chocolate cupcakes, arranged semi-artfully on a plate. She was standing in front of Stiles' door and after roughly two minutes of deciding whether or not this was actually a good idea, she knocked. ] Stiles?
[stiles had long ago programed his door to let allison in because well. obviously. most days allison still liked to knock though, and yet it still managed to startle him enough to trip over his feet climbing off his bed, more often than not.
there's a muffled thud, and then stiles is opening the door a second later, hair a mess and smile a little frazzled.] Allison, hey. What's up? Did I forget a knitting date or something? [knitting date. he probably shouldn't call them that. but then there were a lot of things that stiles probably shouldn't do that he did anyway.]
[ It was the polite thing to do -- knocking, that is. She doesn't like to barge in on him, and tried to keep from doing it as often as possible, generally only letting herself in when he was obviously expecting her. Her life wasn't a romantic comedy, she wasn't about to allow herself to accidentally walk in on Stiles in a compromising position.
She's used to his clumsiness by now, so he gets a wry (and maybe a little sheepish, too) smile when he answers the door, holding out the plate of cupcakes. ] Um. No, actually. It's -- Happy Single's Awareness Day?
[ Suddenly this seems like a terrible idea, because part of Allison thinks he might get the wrong idea, but kind of wants it to be the right idea? And it's just cupcakes on Valentine's Day, it's not a big deal.
[stiles stills in the middle of attempting to pat down his hair or do something to it that made it less... ridiculous (he really needs to get a haircut, this shit isn't even funny anymore) and stares down at the plate of cupcakes in silent surprise, before his eyes dart back up to look at her face. like, really looking at her, not just to confirm that yep that is indeed allison standing in front of him right now.
without a word, he takes the plate from her hands and sets it on a table just inside his room. then he turns back to face her and immediately pulls her into a good strong stilinski hug (though stiles particular version tended to involve a lot more flailing than his dad's).]
[ That was not the reaction Allison was expecting. She had been expecting a thank you and him taking the plate, maybe inviting her inside to eat them with him as they talked and hung out like they always do. It takes her a second to respond, and she hugs him back, but she's so off kilter from the physical contact that she blurts out the first thing that comes to mind. ] You hug like your dad.
[ Unfortunately, Stiles doesn't get a say. Allison doesn't even knock this time, just lets herself in, closing the door behind her and standing there, pretty much so he can't run. ] Now you can answer.
[well shit. now that you're here, stiles isn't totally sure he wants to have this conversation in person. text was honestly so much easier. and he'd honestly already had so many serious conversations in the past few months. did he really want to start another one?]
Hey Allison, really digging the forceful thing, it's pretty hot I'm gonna be honest.
[okay maybe that was too honest in the other direction, whoops.]
[ The look on her face clearly states that now is not the time for jokes, even ones about how pretty she is. Allison crosses her arms, but her tone is gentle. ] Stiles. How can we make it easier, now? Because you can't just keep blaming yourself for everything that happened, it's not your fault.
[ She freezes. There's about a thousand things running her mind right at that moment, two two foremost being denial and horror. But there-- there has to be an explanation. Stiles wouldn't just let it in, not for no reason, not for shits and giggles. It didn't change the fact that the things the nogitsune did with his body were done without his permission or control. And that meant everything.
She tries to keep her tone even, clinical and unemotional. But this is hurting her a little more than she thought it would. ] Why? You wouldn't do it without a reason, that's not like you.
❰ okay, so this isn't sally's first accident. ...she thinks. she doesn't know for sure, but it doesn't feel like her first one. she feels like the last one wasn't nearly this freaking obnoxious.
the only thing keeping sally from being pretty much Done by now is the fact that before the accident, this is apparently somewhere she went through a lot of hassle to reach. the details are hazy at best, but she knows for a fact that she was finally on her way home.
which is here, she assumes, as totally unfamiliar as this hospital seems so far. so she's more than ready to get the hell out of this place (and this gown, not that she hasn't shown her ass to worse people). sucks that it's apparently the middle of freaking winter. thanks for turning her loose in a hospital gown, guys. it's been real.
now she's heading down the front walk, salted and otherwise clear of snow, unlike apparently everything else around. how sweet of them, clearing the snow off for all the sorry pantsless fucks like sally who get to make the spectacular walk of shame to some unknown sheriff's office (what is this, a western?) to beg for their clothes back. the faintest breeze picks up, and she wraps her arms tight around her middle, hiking the gown up just enough to reveal the bottom two of the four entirely questionable scars on her thigh. ❱
